Short answer

App Store purchases always pull from your Apple Account balance first, then fall back to your payment method. If you have enough store credit to cover the plan, no real money is charged. Apple confirms each purchase before it goes through.

## In more detail

Apple has a documented order of operations for in-app purchases: first the balance on your Apple Account is drawn down, and only if that runs out does Apple charge your payment method (card, Apple Pay, mobile carrier billing, etc.). Zero Balance does not change that. As long as your plan total is at or below your available balance, no real money moves. Apple still shows you a confirmation sheet for every single purchase, so you can cancel any of them at the last second.
