# Does Zero Balance read my Apple Account balance automatically?

Short answer

No. Apple does not expose your balance to third-party apps. You enter the target amount manually from Settings > Apple Account on your iPhone.

Apple keeps Apple Account balance strictly server-side. There is no public API that lets a third-party app read it. Zero Balance has no special access - it is a regular App Store app like any other. So the flow is intentionally manual: you look at your balance in Settings > Apple Account, type the number into Zero Balance, and the app suggests a combination of in-app purchases that adds up to that amount. The advantage of this design is that you never have to hand over your Apple ID password or grant any unusual permission. The downside is one extra step compared to a magical "detect and clear" button - but Apple does not offer the API that would make that possible.
